A group of 21 members of al-Shabaab was publicly executed by a firing squad in Somalia on Sunday. It is known to be the first time that such a large number of members of the terrorist organization have been put to death in a day.
A military court ruled that al-Shabaab members are responsible for killing dozens of government employees, journalists and other officials. The organization hasnt responded to the execution yet.
On the same day, according to Somali authorities, 27 people were killed. Al-Shabaab fighters would have attacked the Wisil district in central Somalia. The insurgents would have captured an army base after a car suicide attack.
According to a local police officer, armed civilians joined the fight against al-Shabaab. Twelve deaths, both soldiers and civilians, as well as fifteen al-Shabaab fighters would have fallen.
