21-occupant plane crashes in Texas and catches fire

A plane crashed Tuesday afternoon near Houston, Texas. The aircraft was completely on fire, but the 21 occupants who were on board were able to escape the plane just in time.

Local news channel KHOU 11 News reports that. Sheriff Troy Guidry confirmed to local media that all 21 passengers had come off the plane safely and no casualties had fallen. One passenger had to be hospitalized with a back injury.

Footage of the scene shows huge clouds of undulating black smoke as firefighters tried to put out the burning wreck age.

The business plane, an MD-87 with eighteen passengers, was taking off, but it failed to get enough height according to local media. The aircraft caught fire at Katy, not far from Houston, the largest Texas city after potentially hit a power wire. It came to a halt a few hundred metres from the runway.
