World and European Champion Annemiek van Vleuten will cycle next year in the shirt of Movistar. She signs a contract for two years with the Spanish cycling team.
The 37-year-old Van Vleuten has been riding for Mitchelton-Scott since 2016, but the Australian cycling sponsor is leaving the women’s peloton after this year. “That didn’t work out so well for me, so I started looking around me. Movistar came up with a very nice plan to make my dreams come true”
Because 37-year-old Van Vleuten still has plenty of dreams. “Of course the Olympic Games, but also the regular road races. I want to race and enjoy for two more years” So the world champion hasn’t considered stopping cycling. “I still see my level going up and that keeps me eager to continue.”
Movistar is happy with the arrival of Van Vleuten. “Her mentality fits the group perfectly,” says manager Sebastián Unzué on the team’s website. “Her arrival is a big step forward for us
