4873 new infections, 576 less than yesterday

At the RIVM, 4873 new confirmed coronavirus infections were reported until 10:00 this morning. That‘s 576 fewer reports than a day before. The decline is less rapid than at the beginning of this month, but the number of positive tests has decreased by 18% over the past week.

Most of the reported infections were detected in Rotterdam, i.e. 300.

In the hospitals, the pressure increased slightly over the past day. However, according to President Ernst Kuipers of the National Network Acute Care, the trend remains one of โ€œa gradual declineโ€.

173 new coronation patients were admitted to the nursing departments in the hospital. That’s 23 new recordings more than yesterday.

In the intensive care unit 29 new patients were admitted, almost all of them transferred from the nursing departments. That means 7 more new recordings than yesterday.

In total, 2130 people with corona are now in hospital (yesterday: 2094), 573 of whom are in the ICU (yesterday: 585). So, more coronation patients have been admitted than discharged.

45 deceased covid patients have been reported at RIVM. There were also 45 deaths reported yesterday. Over the past seven days, the RIVM recorded an average of 70 deaths per day in which Corona was officially diagnosed, compared with 83 deaths a day one week earlier. According to the CBS, the actual number of deceased is higher; not all deaths have passed a test.

Whether the number of deaths increases further depends on the number of infections in nursing homes. There are now 677 nursing homes where at least one coronavirus infection has been detected in the last two weeks. At the height of the first corona wave, on April 15, there were 828 nursing homes with at least one infection.
