Hungary must put it at the European Championships without Dominik Szoboszlai. The Red Bull Salzburg midfielder, who will be playing in the RB Leipzig shirt from next season, is not fit enough to be part of the final selection for the European Championships. For former Ajax youth player Szabolcs Schön, that is good news.
Schön came to Amsterdam in 2017, but moved back to the club pretty soon. After two years and with one match for Jong Ajax after his name, he returned to his native country to play for MTK Budapest. Here he made an impression. Last month, he completed a transfer to Major League Soccer Club FC Dallas.
The place of Schön in the final selection of Hungary is partly due to the absence of Szoboszlai. Schön plays just like Szoboszlai on the left side of the field. For Hungary, a heavy European Championship awaits. The country is in the ‘Poule des Doods’ with Germany, Portugal and France.
