Adam Yates leaves twin brother Simon and moves to Ineos

The 28-year-old climber has signed for two seasons in the formation of Tour winner Egan Bernal. The British rider won the UAE Tour in February and finished fourth in the Tour de France in 2016. He also won the Tirreno-Adriatico and the Dauphiné and in 2015 won the Clásica San Sebastián.

“This step comes at the right time”, says Yates, who says he’s looking forward to riding for a British team and wants to develop more as a lap driver.

Simon Yates

Yates’ twin brother Simon signed a new two-year commitment with Mitchelton-Scott. The winner of the Vuelta in 2018 has been riding for the Australian formation since 2014, which first competed under the name Orica-GreenEdge.

It’s the first time the Yates brothers will no longer ride together in a team.
