Aaron Meijers will leave ADO The Hague temporarily after eight years. The 32-year-old left leg will leave on a rental basis to Sparta, which in turn lends fellow leftback Lassana Faye to ADO. The news from The Hague and Rotterdam seeped through earlier on Wednesday and has now been confirmed by both clubs. Over the past eight seasons, Meijers has played up to 250 matches on behalf of ADO and is still under contract for two years: however, he seems to have had his longest time at the club. “Aaron is a player who has meant a lot to ADO Den Haag for eight seasons. He has proven himself for years as one of the better left wing defenders of the Eredivisie, but for at least this season we are choosing a different type in the person of Lassana”, says Martin Jol on behalf of the Technical Heart of ADO.
Faye will be transfer free at the end of the season and has in all likelihood already played his last game on behalf of Sparta. “I want to flame this season”, he tells to the official channels of his new employer. “I already know the trainer (Aleksandar Rankovic, ed.) well, because I worked with him at both Sparta and Vitesse. I think that, just like the coach, I fit in at ADO Den Haag. I love fighting, giving one hundred percent and flair”
