Fortuna Sittard has earned a deserved victory over ADO Den Haag. The team of trainer Sjors Ultee made it unnecessarily difficult for himself by not running away from the opponent in the first half after Lisandro Semedos hit, but in the second act it was simply 2-0.
After the first whistle of Bas Nijhuis it soon became clear which team was the better in Sittard. The home team stuck ADO, which started with Abdenasser El Khayati in the base, on its own half and showed up dangerously for Martin Fraisls goal several times. Halfway through the first half, it resulted in the opening hit. Mats Seuntjens servant Semedo with a prima assist, the attacker shot.
The counter hit didnt seem to do ADO any good. The guests had nothing to crumble in the milk and did not create anything at all. It was even lucky that it looked up the dressing rooms with a 1-0 stand. The players of Fortuna did not have the sights completely on focus yet. Seuntjens thought to make the 2-0, but Semedo – who gave the assist – was out of play.
Fortuna remained simple in the second half. The speech of ADO trainer Ruud Brood in the rest seemed not to have been of much use: his team did not create anything at all. The first shot of ADO – an attempt by Ricardo Kishna of a meter or twenty in minute 78 – flew over the goal of Fortuna-keeper Van Osch.
A few minutes later it was a hit on the other side of the field and Fortuna decided the game. Sebastian Polter stood in the right spot and got the ball a little happy for his feet in the penalty area after Seuntjens had tested Fraisl. The goal resulted in the necessary discharge at the German striker, who assured his team of victory.
As a result of the victory, Fortuna rises to ninth place in the Eredivisie and is allowed to secretly hope for the play-offs for European football. Ultees team is only three points behind number seven FC Utrecht. For ADO, things are starting to look harder and harder. It is in a seventeenth place, the distance to the safe places is six points.
