‘After FC Twente, I still want to go to Premier League, in England is my future’

Julio Pleguezuelo has been playing at FC Twente for four years, but according to his own admission, his future lies in England. The Spanish defenders family is still living there, while Pleguezuelo himself loves English football.
In the summer of 2019, Twente picked up Pleguezuelo at Arsenal. โ€œI never thought I would stay here that long,โ€ says the stopper in conversation with Voetbal International. โ€œTwo years, maybe three, maximum. Twente seemed like a nice intermediate station in my career. But it has become so much more than that. I found football happiness here.โ€
However, Pleguezuelo does not want to play football in Enschede forever. His family still lives in England and that is where the future of the former youth international lies. โ€œMy girlfriend and I just bought a house in North East London, not far from the West Ham United stadium. It
s a beautiful city, I have so many friends there. Since the day I left Arsenal, my ambition has been to return to England.โ€
โ€œAfter Twente, I still want to go to the Premier League, possibly via the Championship,โ€ Pleguezuelo continues. โ€œSpain isnt really in my mind. I know how to play football, but Im more into physical, solid play. England suits me better. Thats where my future lies, sporty and private.โ€
