Botic van de Zandschulp failed to reach the second round with his debut at tennis tournament Rotterdam. The 25-year-old tennis player lost in Ahoy in two sets of Croatian Borna Coric: 6-4 7-6 (4).
In the fifth game of the first set, Van de Zandschulp returned his storage turn and could not undo that backlog. The Croat, the number 26 of the world, made few mistakes and did not give the Dutchman a chance to break back.
In the second set Van de Zandschulp and Coric managed to keep their storage turns and a tiebreak had to make the decision. In this, the Croat was more effective and above all error-free. He got three match points and hit the second one.
Earlier in the evening Stefanos Tsitsipas managed to reach the second round. The second placed Greek won in two long sets of the Belarusian Egor Gerasimov: 7-6 (4) 7-5.
In the first set, Tsitsipas broke the storage turn of the Belarusian once, but Gerasimov quickly fought back. In the tiebreak, the Greek was just a little better. Also in the second set Gerasimov recovered from a break backlog, but he occasionally struggled to win his own games.
At 6-5, Tsitsipas received a match point on Gerasimovs storage and with a mistake on the Belarusian net, the Greek suddenly had the win in his pocket.
Robin Haase did not manage to place for the second round on Monday evening. The Dutchman went down against Andy Murray the former number one in the world and triple grandslam winner.
