After three unprofitable duels, Schmidt is not worried at PSV: ‘Other energy’

Trainer Roger Schmidt started the preseason well with PSV. During training camp in Germany, his team took two 3-0 wins (on two teams in the third division), but back in the Netherlands, he didn’t win yet.

“This is a very good test for us”, Schmidt said after the duel with Frankfurt. “Frankfurt is a strong, good team. We have converted some things compared to the past duels and I liked that. This was another step forward. I think we are getting better overall. The players are getting better physically.”

Schmidt: “I saw another energy in the team and of course we would have liked to have turned that into a victory, but unfortunately that is not the case.”

PSV is not yet active on the transfer market. The names of Kevin Kampl (RB Leipzig) and South Korean Kim Min-Jae, who plays in China at Schmidt’s previous club, often fall. There is also a lot of speculation about a new goalkeeper.

Schmidt. “It’s hard for me to say if we’ll get reinforcements soon. We keep our eyes open. The guys out there are working really hard. If we’re gonna get somebody, it’s gotta really add value to the team.”
