Glen Durrant, the current number 1 in the Premier League ranking, won 8-4 on Friday from Gerwyn Price. Gary Anderson, who defeated Van Gerwen on Thursday evening, won 8-5 against Peter Wright.
The prestigious tournament had reached the sixth round of play in March when the coronapandemic brought the sports world to a standstill.
The last eight rounds of the game will be finished in Milton Keynes in the near future. The semi-finals and finals will be played on 22 October at the O2 Arena in London.
