Ajax presents new right-back and lifts transfer spend to 90 million

Ajax has officially received Jorge Sánchez. The Mexican right-back (24) immediately comes over from Club América and signs for four seasons in the Johan Cruijff Arena, until mid-2026.
The transfer fee reportedly involves an amount of five million euros, plus half a million in bonuses and a resale rate. Sánchez will compete with Devyne Rensch in Amsterdam. The two have to take care of the legacy of Noussair Mazraoui.
Sánchez played 21 international matches for Mexico and impressed in the preparation during Club Américas exhibition matches against Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid. At the top Mexican club, the right-back accounted for two goals and eight assists in 150 games. In addition, he took 25 yellow cards.
Ajax already strengthened this summer with Steven Bergwijn, Calvin Bassey, Brian Brobbey, Owen Wijndal, Francisco Conceição and Lorenzo Lucca. The transfer from Sánchez raises the total expenses of Gerry Hamstra and Klaas Jan Huntelaar to ninety million euros.
The selection of Ajax for next season is almost complete, although the Turk Ahmetcan Kaplan is on its way as successor to Perr Schuurs. The club also looks with an oblique eye at so-called opportunities in the transfer market. Hamstra and Huntelaar will now mainly focus on selling redundant players.
