Ajax started with a simple victory over German third-grader SV Meppen. In Oldenzaal, it became 3-0 due to goals of Christian Rasmussen and Sontje Hansen. Mohamed Ihattaren handed off his business card.
In his unofficial baptism of fire, Ajax trainer Alfred Schreuder chose Maarten Stekelenburg, Lisandro Magallán and Kik Pierie as base players, among others. However, it was the young ones who claimed the leading role. After eighteen minutes Rasmussen (19) scored with a low slider and not much later Hansen (20) did the same.
Hansen had his sights on edge, because even before halftime the attacker made his second of the evening – and Ajax‘ third. Good work by Naci Ünüvar preceded that. Sean Klaiber returned from a knee injury was also close to a goal, but his pebbly shot ended on the aluminum.
Notable was the role of Ihattaren, who made life difficult for Meppen defenders from the right side. The playmaker looked fit and happy, sprinkled with lepe balls and entertained the audience at the Quick ‘20 sports complex with some nice actions.

In the second half, a completely different Ajax was on the field. Only Youri Reign and Ihattaren remained standing at first. The large number of changes affected the game, because after tea there were hardly any big chances to see. Only Jay Enem hit the bar. It stayed at 3-0 in Oldenzaal.
