‘Ajax talks to Timber’

Ajax will be discussing a contract extension with Jurriën Timber in the foreseeable future. The central defender is under contract in Amsterdam for another two years, so there is no rush.
Recently, Timber has been frequently linked to a switch to Bayern Munich and Manchester United, but according to club watcher Mike Verweij, a longer stay at Ajax is obvious. I hear a lot of stories about Timber and a contract extension: that will be picked up if Gerry Hamstra (technical manager, ed.) and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (right-hand Hamstra, ed.) no longer have to focus on training and the like, he says at De Cceit‘s Kick-Off Football Podcast.
He is also under contract for two more years, continues Verweij, who hints that it is waiting for the appointment of Erik ten Hag’
s successor, before sitting with players. It would be crazy if you put on four players first and let five leave. The journalist drops between the lines that a new commitment from Timber is a real option. It seems to me that the next trainer, Alfred Schreuder, wants to keep him there.
