Alderweireld recalls painful memory in ArenA: ‘Also a plight situation’

Toby Alderweireld will face the Netherlands with Belgium in the Johan Cruijff ArenA on Sunday. The Belgians must win by at least four goals to finish as group head in the Nations League group. However, Alderweireld has already stunted in the Amsterdam stadium before and cant help sharing that memory.
Alderweireld is interviewed by DecceIT in the run-up to the game between Belgium and the Netherlands. The Belgian played in Ajax
s first team between 2008 and 2013, but faced the Amsterdammers in the semi-final of the Champions League in 2019. โ€œIn a very difficult situation, we won once,โ€ Alderweireld says secretly about that evening, four years ago. โ€œThats going to hurt a bit for some people.โ€
โ€œA lot is possible in football and it
s up to us to go for it,โ€ continues Alderweireld. When visiting Belgium, the Netherlands won 1-4; in the game with Poland, Memphis Depay fell out and there is a good chance that Vincent Janssen will replace the striker. Alderweireld was not aware that he might have to play against his teammate. โ€œSure, he didnt tell me that. We have a good band. It doesnt really hurt me, I can close such things well and then Im very businesslikeโ€, concludes the Belgian defender.
