Also the second mandatory corona test in the Tour de France did not reveal any positive cases at Jumbo-Visma. All eight riders of the Dutch team of geletruid carrier Primoz Roglic will be able to participate in the sixteenth stage on Tuesday.
The only condition is that all staff members and employees of the team are also given the green light. They too have been tested again, but the results will not be announced until Tuesday morning. The corona protocol of the Tour de France prescribes that a team must leave the race if two members are tested positive, regardless of whether they are riders or staff members.
The riders reacted relieved on Monday. “Im very happy that we can ride another week,” said Roglic, who didnt experience waiting for the result as stressful. “What can I do about it? We follow the rules and do everything we have to do. We werent really worried about it.“
Robert Gesink will also let everything go quietly. “We are all negative, I hope the rest of the peloton is too. Then we can all start again tomorrow”
On Sunday the riders of Jumbo-Visma underwent a test before the start of the stage. Once a week the whole peloton has to go for it.
After the first rest day, none of the riders who were still in the race at that time tested positive for corona. However, four employees of four different teams turned out to be positive, just like Tour Director Christian Prudhomme, who therefore left the Tour immediately.
