Almere threatens to increase FC Eindhoven emptying: ‘Only wanted to lose two, three man’

FC Eindhoven came surprisingly third in the Kitchen Champion Division last season and is now threatening to pay the toll for it. With Valentino Vermeulen (Borussia Dortmund II), Matthias Verreth (Willem II), Jens van Son (stopped), Charles-Andreas Brym (Sparta), Jort van der Sande (NAC Breda) and Joey Sleegers (Dibba Fujairah) all the necessary important players left, possibly also Maarten Peijnenburg will follow.
The 25-year-old Boxtelaar led the rear guard of FC Eindhoven last season and has aroused Almere City‘s interest. The youngest professional club in the Netherlands has had a disappointing season, but after its fourteenth place last year wants to participate seriously for promotion again. Peijnenburg is in the picture as reinforcement, but the defender does have a standing contract on Aalsterweg, including a one-year option.
Trainer Rob Penders hopes that he will also be able to have Peijnenburg next season. โ€œWe don’
t have everything in control. But I just want to keep up with Maarten. We have to wait and see,โ€ he says to the Eindhovens Dagblad. The fact that FC Eindhoven has already lost half a base team was therefore a downer. โ€œI only wanted to lose two or three basic forces from last season.โ€
