General Medical Association LHV wants general practitioners to be vaccinated against corona with priority. The association claims to be in “intensive consultation” with the Ministry of Health. Today, the association expects to complete the agreements with the Ministry and to be able to announce them.
The consultation has not yet been fully completed, “so we are not yet able to report on the results with certainty”, writes the LHV on its website.
The association came into action after yesterday was brought out that the care staff in the acute care will be vaccinated in the short term. The LHV stresses that general practitioners also play an important role in emergency care.
Many general practitioners do not understand that they have to wait longer, and some of them express that concern on social media. “Good work, but there are also general practitioners in our country. Standing 24/7 on the front line and feel forgotten”, writes a general practitioner in Capelle aan den IJssel under a post by Ernst Kuipers, chairman of the National Network Acute Zorg, on LinkedIn. A colleague calls it “desolate that the general practitioners are being taken down in this acute chain vaccination”.
In his plea Wednesday in TV show Nieuwsuur, chairman of the Dutch Association for Intensive Care also called on Diederik Gommers to vaccinate general practitioners as soon as possible.
