American court puts line through trial Stairway to Heaven

The US Supreme Court has put a line through the case between the bands Led Zeppelin and Spirit about Stairway to Heaven. Spirit argued that the legendary British band would have copied the intro of the world-famous song.

A jury already ruled in March that the 1971 song did not resemble Spirits song Taurus (1968) to be called plagiarism. Spirits lawyers then wanted to refer the case to the Supreme Court, but the court decided not to look into the case.

This means that the ruling of the lower court remains. Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page admitted to having Spirits first 1968 album, which contains the song Taurus, in his collection of over four thousand records. But he said he cant remember if he listened to the album.
