Analysts predict title battle in Eredivisie: ‘Again such a demarrage goes a long way’

Arnold Bruggink and Hedwiges Maduro expect Ajax to be in the hands of the scale at the end of this Eredivisie season. The two analysts agree that the Ajax selection has more quality than that of direct competitor PSV.
โ€œI can‘t imagine Ajax leaving so many points behind now, especially when you look at the goal balanceโ€, Bruggink looks back at the first half of the season in conversation with the Algemeen Dagblad. โ€œThen you can see that Ajax has lost quite a lot of points. However, players now know very well what it is about: that the prizes are really going to be distributed. Another such demarrage (last season Ajax was very strong after the winter break, ed.) goes a bit far, but I don’t see Ajax giving this away anymore, because I expect them to stay uphill at a fast pace.โ€
Maduro agrees with his colleague and assigns an important task for the Ajax staff. โ€œSpreading the tax is becoming important for Ajax. For the competitors, it is to be hoped that Ajax will still get tired, but then PSV itself must first make sure that it is constant.โ€
Ajax will resume the Eredivisie this Sunday with a home match against Heracles Almelo, PSV will play at the Philips Stadium against AZ on Saturday.
