In the event of a riot in the West Bank, a 16-year-old Palestinian was shot by Israeli soldiers, Palestinian authorities report. A 19-year-old Israeli who was shot from a car on Sunday by supposedly a Palestinian shooter, died of his injuries.
According to the Israeli army, shooting was late last night at Palestinians throwing Molotov cocktails. This happened near the Palestinian village of Beita, south of the city of Nablus. A spokesman says the death of the 16-year-old boy is under investigation.
Another Palestinian was shot in the back during the riots and is being treated in the hospital. What he‘s like is not known.
Residents of Beita and the nearby village of Odala inform Reuters that there have been clashes between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers over the past few nights.
Search for shooter
The Israeli army is engaged in a manhunt for the shooter who opened fire from the car on Sunday at a crowded intersection in the West Bank. Three Israelis were injured, two of whom were seriously injured.
One of them, a 19-year-old male, died of his injuries last night, announced Defense Secretary Gantz on Twitter. Gantz said that “the military and all security forces won’t rest until they catch the terrorist.”
Israel‘s Homeland Security Service, Shin Bet, has now arrested a suspect. It is a 44-year-old Palestinian resident of the village of Turmus Ayya. According to the Security Service, he’s not affiliated with any militant group.
Since the beginning of Ramadan, tensions have increased in the West Bank and in Jerusalem. At the end of April, the police in Jerusalem removed the gates at the Damascus Gate, after days of unrest.
