AS Roma won the first league game of the season on Sunday night. It wasnt easy, but the points go to Rome: 0-1. Georginio Wijnaldum made his debut in the second half.
Wijnaldum started on the bench, but Tonny Vilhena was at the base of Salernitana. The midfielder came over from Spains Espanyol this week. Vilhena saw that Roma had the best of the game and also made the most claim to a goal. The goal also followed after more than half an hour of play. Salernitanas goalkeeper had no answer to a low shot by Bryan Cristante.
There were fewer points of interest in the second half. Roma controlled the game, but at the same time had to remain vigilant for Salernitanas counter. Roma trainer José Mourinho brought Wijnaldum inside the lines fifteen minutes before and seemed to have applied a golden switch: Wijnaldum scored, but was whistled back due to offside play. After ninety minutes and a bit, the referee whistled off.
