Donny van de Beek helped Manchester United to find a place in the quarterfinals of the English League Cup. Partly thanks to an assist from the midfielder, the team of trianer Ole Gunnar Solskjær won 3-0 from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Van de Beek prepared Juan Matas 2-0 at The American Express Community Stadium. Thats what the Orange-International did with a subtle heel. The other goals of United were made by Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba.
Van de Beek played the full game. On the side of Brighton, his former teammate Joël Veltman, who also left Ajax this summer, filled the ninety minutes. Timothy Fosu-Mensah stayed on the couch with United.
Manchester City also easily placed itself in front of the quarter-finals. Coach Pep Guardiolas team won 3-0 at Burnley.
Raheem Sterling opened the score for ManCity in the first half and was right after rest assured again. The third goal came in the name of the Spaniard Ferrán Torres.
Nathan Aké started on the couch at Manchester. Guardiola brought the defender into the team in the 74th minute. At Burnley, Erik Pieters played the whole game.
