Atlético Madrid trainer Diego Simeone will not be able to assist his team for the time being. El Cholo is infected with the coronavirus, made Los Rojiblancos world famous on Saturday evening. Earlier this week it already became clear that there was one infection in the Atlético squad, which had to break down its training camp in neighbouring Los Ángeles de San Rafael. The results of the corona tests showed that Simeone was the one who tested positive.
The iconic trainer – already in office since 2011 – has to stay in home isolation for the time being. According to Atlético Madrid, the fifty-year-old Argentinian does not show the symptoms associated with the coronavirus: he is expected to return to work soon. The first league game of the season will not be endangered anyway: Atlético will only kick off the Primera División season at the end of September.
This is not the first time that Atlético has been affected by the coronavirus. In August – just before the team travelled to Lisbon for the last Champions League games – attacker Ángel Correa and back Sime Vrsaljko were already infected.
Our entrant, Diego Pablo Simeone, has received a positive response from Mr Covid in the last few years of prudent action; the correspondent has been replaced at his home address, ➡️ https://t.co/5iMw4v0KGE
