In Austria, a four-year-old girl was killed in a toboggan run. She slipped on a high speed sleigh from a snow slope and hit off the track. This happened at Schladming, a city southeast of Salzburg.
The girl, wearing a ski suit, helmet and ski goggles, sat alone on a sled that suddenly slipped. She soulded about 180 meters over the partly frozen course. After that, according to the Austrian police, things went wrong: she slipped over a dike and ended up in a forest.
Her father and a doctor provided first aid, after which the child was taken to the hospital. That‘s where she died of her injuries. The girl’s family lives near Vienna.
Tobogganing can be done on landscaped tracks with a special sled or a cart, but also on natural, snow-covered tracks. The Austrian girl crashed on such a natural job. There are several of them in the Schladming-Dachstein region.
