Spanish studio Deconstructeam became famous for the minimalistic thriller Gods Will Be Watching, and cemented the success of The Red Strings Clubs “cyberpunk story of fate and happiness”. And now the publishing house Devolver Digital will release another studio project. Essays on Empathy is not a game, but a compilation, which included a dozen small projects.
In them, Deconstructeam experimented with plots and the way they are served. Some of these stories developers have already shown, but among them there are completely new short games.
The collection of Essays on Empathy included: Underground Hangovers – metroidvaniya about miners who were forgotten on a distant planet; Supercontinent LTD is a conversational detective adventure in which we impersonate others on the phone: many aspects of The Red Strings Club are borrowed from it; Behind Every Great One is a realistic account of developing toxic relationships; Eternal Home Floristry is the story of a killer who works in a flower shop while recovering from wounds; The Bookshelf Limbo – choose a gift to the father in the bookstore; Zen and the Art of Transhumanism – another game that is skewed in The Red Strings Club; Engolasters January 2021 – the story of the arrival aliens to Andorra; 11:45 A Vivid Life is a story about a girl who is sure that her skeleton does not belong to her; Dear Substance of Kin is a sandbox that the creators still hope to turn into full game; De Tres Al Cuarto is a story about two comedians trying to make success. Essays on Empathy will be released on Steam on May 18.
