AZ again knows what losses are: Groningen takes three points partly because of wondergoal

AZ hasn‘t been able to pull the upward trend in the last few weeks. When visiting low-flyer FC Groningen, the Pascal Jansen formation suffered a defeat.
AZ had a very difficult start to the season. However, prior to the duel with Groningen, the counter stood at five consecutive wins for the Alkmaarders. Groningen was the number sixteen of the Premier League before meeting AZ.
In the first part of the competition, the Pride of the North was dangerous. Paulos Abraham missed a big chance and Jordy Clasie almost worked the ball in the rebound in his own goal. Not much later it was a hit for Groningen. Cyril Ngonge arguably made the goal of the season by working the ball with his heel behind Peter Vindahl: 1-0.
That was also the stand on the scoreboard at rest. After the break, AZ took more initiative. However, visitors were unable to reach great opportunities. In the end, Groningen came 2-0, because Michael de Leeuw managed to outlay the coming Vindahl.
Although AZ used a final offensive, 2-0 became the final result. As a result, the good series of the Alkmaarders, who are now eleventh in the Premier League has come to an end. Groningen climbs the rankings and moves away from the relegation zone. Danny Buijs’
s team is now fifteenth.
