AZ has to go to work in return after moderate match against tough Dundee United

AZ got itself in a bad starting position on Thursday evening. In the third heat of the Conference League, the first leg against Dundee United was lost 1-0.
With a stripped team, AZ started the competition in Scotland. Pascal Jansen could not appeal to Riechedly Bazoer, Peer Koopmeiners (ill), Jesper Karlsson, Zinho Vanheusden, Yuikinara Sugawara (not competitive fit) and Jens Odgaard (injury). From the Netherlands, the stragglers saw how AZ dabbled against the tough Dundee in the opening phase.
The Scots created little danger, but were brighter than AZ, which was sloppy at times. In the entire first act, Jansen‘s team was able to record two opportunities. Vangelis Pavlidis forgot to put his foot against the ball at a cross by Hakon Evjen, while Mayckel Lahdo saw his header turned by goalkeeper Mark Birighitti.
After rest, AZ was no different, except for a pinprick, the Alkmaar people barely came close to Birighitti. There was still a goal, although it fell on the wrong side for AZ. A long shot by Glenn Middleton was too powerful for Hobie Verhulst. Five minutes before time, AZ’
s best moment came through Pavlidis, but an equaliser was not in it.
The return in Alkmaar follows next week. When AZ manages to reverse the score, the team hits the winner between Riga FC and Gil Vicente in the final heat. In Latvia, that game ended in 1-1.
