AZ ignores Norwegian corona advice for Fredrik Midtsjø

AZ does not allow the Norwegian midfielder Fredrik Midchø to be quarantined, something that the authorities in Norway had advised.

Midtsjø is back in the Netherlands and is training again with the Alkmaar selection of trainer Arne Slot. We are acting in accordance with the Dutch guidelines, says a spokesperson for AZ, that Sunday the Eredivisie will resume against FC Emmen.

Midchø belonged to the Norwegian selection which was shaken last week by a corona case. Omar Elabdellaoui tested positive and that prompted the Norwegian Ministry of Health to forbid footballers from going to Romania for a match in the Nations League. The health service in Oslo advised the internationals to go into quarantine for 10 days. Most players have now returned to their clubs.

The Norwegian Federation has compiled a completely new selection for the Nations League of Wednesday with Austria. Among others Hakon Evjen (AZ), Jørgen Strand Larsen (FC Groningen) and Sondre Tronstad (Vitesse) have been summoned. Jonas Svensson, countryman and clubmate of Midchø and Evjen, had to unsubscribe from the interland period last week.
