AZ has achieved a relatively simple victory at sc Heerenveen in the Eredivisie. In Alkmaar, the team of trainer Pascal Jansen triumphed with 3-1
AZ currently occupies the third place in the ranking, at ten points of the unthreatened leader Ajax. Heerenveen is eighth, but has played two duels more than FC Utrecht, which meets Sunday afternoon in the Galgenwaard VVV-Venlo.
Unexpectedly from the kick-off there was already a place for Lasse Schöne in the Heerenveen team, where he previously spent four years in youth education. The 34-year-old Dane would start in the duel on the couch, but during the warm-up strong holder Joey Veerman hooked off injured. Schöne stood on the midfield next to another former Ajacied, Siem de Jong.
Schöne joined the Frisian selection on Friday. Schöne had his contract with the Italian club Genoa terminated last month because of a lack of playing time. Over the past few weeks, the Danish international maintained his fitness with Ajax, the club for which he played between 2012 and 2019. In view of the European Championships next summer, Schöne wanted to play regular football again. That has to happen now at his old club Heerenveen.
However, Schöne‘s return in the Eredivisie was quickly pushed into the background. After 20 minutes of football, Calvin Stengs produced the opening hit for AZ. It was the sixth Eredivisie hit for the 22-year-old Orange-International. More than he produced there in a full season.
In the second minute after rest, AZ doubled the score from the penaltytip. Teun Koopmeiners was allowed to dock from eleven meters. Most of the time, it’s hit. And also this time the captain of Alkmaarders did not fail: 2-0.
It seemed to be a hopeless afternoon, but it was Schöne who brought some hope back into the Frisian hearts. The routiner scored on the record of another former Ajacied. Siem de Jong was the man of the assist at the connection hit.
Ten minutes before, Albert Gudmundsson put an end to all the Alkmaar uncertainty. Calvin Stengs enabled the Icelander to make the third hit of the home team. And with that, the meeting in North Holland was decided.
