‘Bad news for all attackers’: Ajax announces contract extension until mid 2025

Lisandro Martínez has renewed his contract with Ajax. The 23-year-old Argentine is now stuck in the Johan Cruijff Arena until mid-2025, the Amsterdammers announce Friday.
Ajax took over the defender for about seven million euros from Defensa y Justicia in 2019 and he quickly turned out to be a hit. Martínez immediately became a base player in the midfield in his first season, but then had to make the place for a while. However, he was a central defender in the team of trainer Erik ten Hag, where he forms an uncontroversial duo with Jurriën Timber.
Martínez has so far played 91 official matches in Ajaxs first team and made five goals in it. His business observer Steinar Dietz announced in mid-September that the left-leg was going to renew his contract. “Lisandro is not ready at Ajax yet,” the broker announced at that time. His previous commitment ended in mid-2023, although Ajax had an option to extend until the summer of 2024, with another year now.
