Its official: Clément Lenglet will swap FC Barcelona on rent for Tottenham Hotspur next season. Spurs did not stipulate an option to buy, while Spanish media made a different sound.
Lenglet was no longer a base player at Barcelona in the past season. With the arrival of Andreas Christensen, the Frenchman was allowed to look forward to a new club. Tottenham had to negotiate with Barcelona for several weeks, but the deal is now finalized: Lenglet will play on loan for the North London club next season.
Barça reports that there is no option to buy included in the rental. Different sounds sounded in the Spanish media, but in a year Lenglet will basically return to Camp Nou. The coverage of the salary distribution also differs, but at least it seems that Tottenham will pay most of Lenglet his wages in the upcoming season.
✍️ We are delighted to announce the signing of Clément Lenglet on a season-long loan from Barcelona, subject to international clearance and a work permit. #WelcomeLenglet
