Barcelona Presidential elections postponed because of corona

The presidential elections at FC Barcelona, which were scheduled to take place on 24 January, will not take place on that day. The club leadership decided to do so because of the increasing number of coronas cases in the vicinity of Catalonia.

Corona measures in Barcelona and surrounding areas have recently been tightened, so many people are not allowed to leave their congregation, except for work, school or for medical reasons.

Laporta for President

Former President Joan Laporta, entrepreneur Victor Font and former director Toni Freixa are the remaining candidates for the election. One of them becomes the successor of Josep Maria Bartomeu who resigned last October.

A new date for the elections has not yet been announced by the Spanish club, where Ronald Koeman has been the head coach since the summer.
