Peter Bosz‘s Bayer Leverkusen is doing bad business these weeks. After the elimination of BSC Young Boys in the Europa League, it lost Sunday with 1-2 to SC Freiburg.
In the BayArena the bank was kept warm by quite a few Dutch people. On the home team Daley Sinkgraven and Jeremie Frimpong sat next to trainer Bosz, while the visitors Guus Til had to watch. Timothy Fosu-Mensah was kicking off at Leverkusen, but was injured just before rest.
It was shortly after rest that the spell was broken. After clever preparatory work by Lucas Höler, Ermedin Demirovic was attentive enough to tap in. Höler was then good for Freiburg’s second hit. With twenty minutes to go, Leverkusen – with now Frimpong within the lines – returned to 1-2 via Leon Bailey. However, the equator was no longer able to enforce the team.
Leverkusen is now sixth in the Bundesliga. The backlog of the number four Eintracht Frankfurt is five points.
