Bayern shops again at direct competitor: ‘We are very happy with it’

Bayern Munich completed a transfer day after winning the World Cup for clubs. Dayot Upamecano, the French defender of RB Leipzig, will be taken over for over 40 million euros after this season.

Thats what Technical Director Hasan Salihamidzic tells Bild. Der Rekord meister agrees with the defender and will pay the contractually agreed transfer sum of almost 43 million euros. “I can confirm that and we are very happy about that,” he says. “We had good conversations with Dayot and his agent.”
Bayern trumps several European superpowers, including Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, with the winning of Upamecano. “We knew we had strong competition,” says the technical director. “He is 22 years old and therefore still very young, but he is already very good in quality. I was convinced that we could offer him a good perspective, and that
s what we presented to him.”
Finally, the strong defender came with the redeeming word over the bridge, to the relief of Salihamidzic. “Ive talked to a lot of people over the past week, and after a lot of thought, the player, his family and his entourage are convinced that Bayern was the right choice for them.”
