Belgian soldiers with far-right ideas banned from depots

Eleven Belgian soldiers who, because of their far-right sympathies, lie under the magnifying glass of the security forces, are no longer allowed access to the weapons depots. Thats what the Belgian Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder said on Sunday.

The decision was taken following the consternation around the fugitive military Jรผrgen Conings. The heavily armed right-wing extremist has been looking for virologists and the government and has still not been caught after several days of manhunt.

According to Minister Dedonder, the eleven other extreme right-wing military should no longer be allowed to enter sensitive places, nor should any more sensitive information be shared with them. She announced this in an interview with the Walloon television channel RTL-TVi.

Dedonder has asked the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces to take immediate action against soldiers who are being followed by the Belgian military intelligence agency ADIV. On Saturday night, he confirmed to the Minister that these measures were being taken.
