US President Joe Biden wants to disclose secret documents about the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States. The documents come from the FBI investigation.
Biden hasnt said exactly whats being published. According to US media, it may be documents about Saudi Arabias role in the attacks. Survivors of victims of the attacks say they have suspicions that Saudi Arabia has provided assistance to Al-Qaeda terrorist group, which carried out the attacks, and that the FBI has evidence about it.
Among other things, the President has instructed the Ministry of Justice and other government organisations to see what documents can be released. If the disclosure is initiated, the documents will be brought out for the next six months.
Biden calls publishing these documents as part of his election pledge to provide transparency about the attacks. He promises that he will take the publications into account the families of victims of the attacks. The attacks, including at the WTC in New York, killed nearly 3,000 people.
