Blind discusses Cocus dismissal: He still built up his career

The resignation of Phillip Cocu from Derby County says Danny Blind that the Dutch trainers are not very good at the moment abroad. The Championship gate closer decided to end the collaboration with Cocu on Saturday.

According to Blind, the current generation of trainers is struggling to match their predecessors. โ€œWe are no longer as represented as we are used to,โ€ says the former coach of Oranje at Ziggo Sport. โ€œWe have said goodbye to a generation with Louis van Gaal, Guus Hiddink, Co Adriaanse, you name them. Those were good trainers who were successful and then you will also be in the picture abroad. That‘s a little less now.โ€
After a successful period at PSV, Cocu has now had to deal with a number of disappointments. According to Blind, that has to do with his choices. โ€œHe built his career well by acting as an assistant at final tournaments with Oranje, then working as a youth trainer and rolling in at PSV. When that ends then you have to make a good choice and I think he himself knows that Fenerbahรงe is not so stable, so that was unfortunate.โ€
โ€œIn Turkey it was hectic, so you hope Derby County is better,โ€ continues the former defender. โ€œUnfortunately, they are desolate at the bottom. Then you know this is over your head.โ€
