Blind: ‘In the end, no one talks about what football was like in 2014’

Daley Blind had not played a minute since March 30, but seems to have won his race against the clock. The 31-year-old Ajacied played another 45 minutes against Georgia on Sunday and lives with confidence to the European Championships.
Afterwards, he appeared wide smiling in front of the camera of DeccEit. โ€œHow is the muscle pain? Okay, but my ankle is a little stiff after the game, but I didn‘t expect anything else. So fine,โ€ says Blind. โ€œI’m ready. Well timed, yes. And we worked hard for it. Am ready.โ€ Now the left foot has seven days to work towards the EK-Overture against Ukraine. โ€œI feel like I‘m just ready. But it’s nice that you have another week to prepare. And then you might still be able to do a few conditional stimuli.โ€
While Blind was in the final phase of his recovery, the discussion arose in the Netherlands about the 5-3-2 system of federal coach Frank de Boer. The defender knows that this formation can be successful: in 2014 he was the left-back of Oranje, which won bronze during his final World Championships. โ€œStill not top, it still needs to be better: we are also aware of that and we must do everything for that. But we also know from 2014 that you do not always have to play well for a good result. And in the end, no one talks about what football was like back then, only about the result we achieved.โ€
