Daley Blind is sorry that Sébastien Haller is not enrolled in the Europa League. The Ajax routinier, however, focuses on things he does influence and looks forward to the Cup match against PSV next Wednesday.
Because of an administrative error, Haller is not allowed to take action in the Europa League, to the disappointment of Blind. “This is a bloodletting for us,” he says in conversation with ESPN. “We just have to say that it can happen. As a selection, we should not be too busy with it. We have to straighten the back and just show it on the field.”
This is possible next Wednesday, when Ajax will compete against PSV in the KNVB Cup. Last month PSV took a point back from the Johan Cruijff Arena. “I think that after that first half hour we had dominated the game. With that feeling, we want to go back into the game. We will simply have to fight a lot of battles.”
In the cup tournament everything is possible, Blind knows. “This is just always games in itself. Its also cup football. That also gives another dimension to it. But let it be clear that we just have to be at our best if we want to win,” he concludes.
