A ten-year-old boy drowned in the Big Sioux River near Hudson (South Dakota) last Saturday. Ricky Lee Sneve tried to save one of his younger sisters, who had fallen into the water just before.
His mother, Nicole Eufers, says in conversation with Argus Leader that Ricky was by the river with his father, brothers and sisters when it went wrong around 7pm (local time). A number of family members ended up in the water. While the family‘s father pulled two children out of the water, Ricky also tried to help.
Ricky drowned in the river. After three and a half hours of searching, his body was recovered.
‘He was my all‘
Chad Sneve, the boy’s father, says in conversation with the local newspaper that his son was the type that ‘would do anything for everyone’: “He was smart, committed and preserved.” Sneve continues: “He was nice and special. He was my everything, and he hit everyone he came across. He taught me to love and appreciate life.”
Ricky was the oldest of the kids. In order to fund his funeral, a family member of the family has set up a fundraiser. Monday night, the target amount was almost achieved.
