Brugge success Van den Brom, Club Brugge beeps cup holder Antwerp

A much-needed success for John van den Brom at RC Genk. In the eighth final of the Belgian cup tournament, the club from the miners region finished with local colleague Sint-Truiden. That didnt go very smoothly, because it only turned 1-0 and only in the 87th minute top scorer Paul Onuachu managed to make the redeeming goal.

However, the success is very welcome, because the criticism of Van den Brom from the constituents and in the press has swelled recently. The Dutchman was appointed in November, when RC Genk was in a strong period. The first three duels led by the Amersfoorter were also won and the club from Belgian Limburg even took the lead position.

Since the first defeat under the leadership of Van den Brom, against his old club Anderlecht, the club from the miners region has become a big deal. Of the last seven league matches, four were lost and only one won. As a result, the backlog at Club Brugge has risen to seventeen points.

Meanwhile, even a top four position, which entitles you to participate in the championship layout offs, is no longer certain. The gap between number three RC Genk and number five KV Oostende is only four points, while Van den Brom will visit Ostend with his team on Saturday.
