‘Cambuur wants to get keeper with colorful resume, wait negotiations with Everton’

SC Cambuur wants to bring in a goalkeeper with a rich resume. According to Voetbal International, the club wants to bring João Virgíonia to Leeuwarden. The 22-year-old Portuguese is under contract with Everton and has previously played for Sporting Portugal, Reading, Arsenal and Benfica.
That Cambuur is looking for new goalkeepers became clear earlier on Sunday. The club then announced that Robbin Ruiter will follow a training internship. Now VI knows that Cambuur is targeting Virgínia, which is still under contract in Liverpool until mid-2024. It is not clear whether Cambuur is betting on a buy or rent deal.
Virgínia was predicted a great future as a teenager, but the Faro goalkeeper is still waiting for his real breakthrough. At Everton, he played a handful of duels in the main force, while Virgínia never managed to become the first goalkeeper at his other clubs either.
If Virgínia opts for a move to Cambuur, he no longer has to make his debut on the Dutch fields. Last season, the youth international was under the bar in the Johan Cruijff Arena. Then Sporting Portugal played with a B-team against Ajax in the last group game of the Champions League.
