Campers by helicopter rescued from forest fire

Firefighters in the American state of California pick up campers with helicopters who are stuck on a campsite. In the area around the campground were large forest fires. The only way to and from the area was not open because of the fire.

At least six people had to go to the hospital with burns. At an airport nearby, a large tent has been set up to accommodate the people. So far about 65 people have been treated there with complaints due to the smoke and fire.

Forest fires have been raging in the American state for over two weeks. The first fires were caused by lightning. The fire was able to spread quickly because nature in California is very dry.

Thousands of houses and other buildings have already burned down. People who lived there now have to look for a new house. Meanwhile, more than 12,000 firefighters are trying to extinguish the forest fires.
