Car thief scares child, drives back for sermon mother and flees again

Police in the U.S. state of Oregon started a manhunt for a thief who spotted a child in the back seat shortly after a car theft, turned back and then gave the owner and mother a reprimand about good parenting.

The carjacking took place at a grocery store in Beaverton last Saturday. The mother had gotten off, but left the engine running with her 4-year-old child in the back seat. She bought some milk and meat, writes The Oregonian.

According to The New York Post, the thief happened to walk by at that time, jumped in the car and drove off. Soon he mocked the child.

The unsub drove back and decided to give the mother a burner. โ€œHe gave the mother a stand because she kept her child in the car. The man threatened to call the police for that,โ€ responds police spokesman Matt Henderson in regional media.

Still fugitive

After the sermon, the car thief instructed the mother to remove the child from the vehicle, and then drive away again. The police are looking for the stolen vehicle. โ€œWere glad he had the decency to bring back the little one.โ€
