The Catshuis conference on curfew does not take place on Sunday because of the expected winter weather. The consultation between the corona core team of the demissionary cabinet and RIVM boss Van Dissel will now take place on Monday.
The intention was to make a final decision shortly after the weekend on prolonging the far-reaching measure, but the decision would actually be pre-cooked at the Catshuis on Sunday. Due to the winter weather it has now been decided to cancel this meeting and move it to Monday. According to those involved, it is not an option to consult Sunday at another location.
If the cabinet wants to extend the curfew, there will be a debate on this in the House of Representatives. The curfew is due to expire on Wednesday morning at 4.30 a.m. On Tuesday, the Chamber could debate whether or not to extend the curfew. There seems to be a majority in this respect.
While the removal of curfew at the beginning of this week was still a serious wish of the demissionary cabinet, it now seems nothing more than vain hope. “I fear the worst”, bleak Rutte Thursday in the House of Representatives about the abolition of curfew. “It doesnt look good.” The twist in thinking comes from the latest predictions of the RIVM about the spread of the British variant of the virus.
