Two months after the death of DJ and music producer Erick Morillo (49), the cause is known. A medical examiner has confirmed to American media that Morillo, who is best known for his hit I Like To Move It under the stage name Reel 2 Real, died of ketamine poisoning. It was supposed to be an accident.
The DJ was already frank about his struggles with ketamine and alcohol. During an interview in 2017, he told me that he had been in rehab. “The beginning of being completely sober was the hardest part. When I had six months, it was very easy.”
Just before he died, Morillo was in the news because he was accused of sexual misconduct. After that, the DJ had turned himself in to the police, but denied having slept with the woman in question.
