Cameroon assured the essentials at home by dominating Zimbabwe (1-0) at the opening of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Saturday in Yaoundé.
Mali also won (1-0) against Burkina Faso in the other match of Group A.
On Sunday, in Group B, Libya faces Niger (17:00, 16:00 GMT) before a derby between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Congo (20:00, 19:00 GMT).
The tournament, scheduled from 16 January to 7 February, opposes sixteen African national selections and generally rebats the cards of African continental football, since African stars playing abroad are not allowed to participate.
This sixth edition of the competition was originally scheduled to take place in April 2020, but was postponed due to the pandemic. It must be used as a heating tour before the Queen of the Continent competition, the African Cup of Nations (CAN), which will also be played in January 2022 in Cameroon.
