‘Chelsea reaches agreement with Leicester and lays record amount for defender’

Chelsea FC seems to have finally managed to reach an agreement with Leicester City on Wesley Fofanas transfer. The 21-year-old defender has to come to London for a record amount.
RMC Sport reports that the two clubs have reached an agreement for the Frenchman after weeks of tug-of-war. Specific amounts are not mentioned yet, but there is a chance that Fofana will become the most expensive centre-back ever with the switch to The Blues.
Several English media, including Sky Sports, reported on Tuesday that Leicester had rejected a bid of more than 82 million euros. Currently, Harry Maguire is the most expensive defender in football history: the Englishman made the switch from Leicester to Manchester United for ninety million euros in 2019.
Fofana left Saint-Étienne in France in 2020 and made the switch to The Foxes for 35 million euros. The defender extended his contract until 2027 in March this year, allowing Leicester to ask for the absolute grand prize for the talented player.
